Modest Mouse at the Fillmore in Philly

Modest Mouse took their tour supporting their 8th studio album ‘An Eraser and a Maze’ to Philadelphia, PA at The Fillmore on August 19th. The venue was abuzz with new and old fans there to experience their eclectic indie rock sound. To start the evening, there was an opening set from Califone, an experimental rock group from Chicago. They had the audience jamming out and laughing along with funny banter in between songs. Their funky rock sound really got everybody ready to dance and get the evening going.

Then came Modest Mouse, the crowd was shoulder to shoulder, ready to partake in a psychedelic rock evening. Many people there had seen Modest Mouse several times over the years and everybody that I talked to raved about how every time they have seen them, their musicality really shines through and it’s an amazing show. Last night was no different. They came out strong and put together a set list filled with some amazing songs. Notably absent was some of their hits, including “Float On”. Fans didn’t seem to mind though, because they played all of their favorite songs, deep cuts, and new music to create an incredibly well balanced evening of great tracks. The energy was palpable and everyone in the room left incredibly happy.
