Meathead release new EP “Is This Becoming?”

Meathead is an up-and-coming emo/pop punk band out of Toronto that is planning on releasing their third EP “Is This Becoming?” on September 18. Previously they released “Never Better” in 2024 and “There’s Nothing Worth Saving” in 2025. The band has been hard at work to bring five more high energy pop punk hits to their discography.

Daylight Savings? In This Economy?

The song starts off with high energy and a classic pop-punk feel, dipping their toes into more of a screamo vibe towards the end. It touches on feelings of time passing and being unsure of the direction that your life is going in. It reflects on not wanting to lose yourself to old habits.

Shut Up, Brian

Feelings of inadequacy rise to light in this self reflective punk banger. The hatred towards being examined and people paying attention to you because you think little of yourself. While the music is high energy the lyrics are quite a sad, looking into the mind of someone who truly doesn’t see anything good about themselves and is struggling with self-hatred, despite being told how beautiful they are.

Yeah, No, For Sure

This song has strong midwest emo vibes instrumentally and vocally. Its about a failing relationship and how the narrator needs to escape the relationship and never return. He can’t believe they ever shared the love they had, he just can’t live like that anymore and needs to be free.

Here’s To Moderation

Vibes switch here and listeners get an acoustic melody to a self deprecating tune. Its about someone who runs in a self destructive pattern. They overindulge because its easier than facing their life, even though their family worry about them and want to see them be okay. The narrator details stumbling though the door and through the hallways and not being able to break this pattern of drinking to forget.

I’d Be Dead in Dog Years

Back to the more pop-punk sound from the beginning of the EP. This time singing about growing up, time passing and feeling lost. Its nostalgia with a bitter taste, trying to get back the feeling of being young with your friends instead of feeling like you lost yourself somewhere along the way while growing up and moving on from younger years. There is an enchanting guitar solo in this track that builds energy and becomes chaotic with the rest of the band joining in to end with the singer letting out a scream, the angst of growing old and not being able to control the change of time.
