Basement, a post-hardcore alternative rock band from Suffolk, England, brought their tour supporting recently released album Wired to Philadelphia on October 9th at the Fillmore. Basement first formed in 2009 by brothers Andrew Fisher (lead vocals) and James Fisher (drums) and Ronan Crix (lead guitar), Alex Henery (rhythm guitar), and Duncan Stewart (bass). While they have taken a few hiatuses over the years, they have retained all of their original members and continue to grow in popularity. They recently had viral success with their song ‘Covet’ becoming popular on Tik Tok in the last few years and with the release of their 5th studio album ‘Wired”, their first in 8 years. Their second stop on the Wired Tour was in Philadelphia at the Fillmore with support from Febuary, Big Boy and Momma to start the night.
Febuary is a screamo band from Las Vegas, Nevada who immediately started the night off with a high energy set. The crowd really showed up for this band and started a mosh pit right away. They were a powerhouse of emotion. Next was Big Boy, from San Jose, California who brought an entirely different vibe of more hardcore punk. You can really hear the Nu-metal influence to their music and fans were loving every second. The crowd’s energy continued to rise and they were singing along and moshing the entire set. Momma was the last opener on the bill. They are an indie rock band originally from Los Angeles, California who changed the vibe of the evening to a 90s grunge inspired moody set. The energy however stayed high, many fans showed up for the band and were sporting Momma t-shirts. The vibes were immaculate heading into the headlining set from Basement.
Basement started out the night strong with some new tracks from Wired, As they continued on the energy got higher and higher. Then they played their viral song Covet and the room exploded in nostalgia. People were flying around in the pit, soaring through the air and punching the sky while singing and screaming out their favorite lyrics. They played a well balanced set of old favorites and tracks off of their most recent album. They haven’t toured in the US as a headlining act in several years and they reminisced on playing some of these very songs in small intimate venues last time they were in the area. They ended the night with Promise Everything and you could have been electrocuted by the energy in the air.
On a personal note, this show meant a lot to me. I attended with my husband and our friend who first introduced Basement to us back in college. My husband and I bonded over our shared love of music and this band in particular was one of our favorites to listen to together. To finally be able to see them live was amazing and a will be a night i’ll go back to in my mind often.

If you can, I highly recommend checking out Basement on their Wired Tour
