Third Eye Blind Made a Splash at Musikfest in Bethlehem

The annual and historic Lehigh Valley festival Musikfest has begun in full force, with a great lineup on the Wind Creek Steel Stage and even more amazing acts throughout the festival grounds. Throughout the city of Bethlehem you can find people mingling, eating, drinking, laughing, signing, and dancing. Every corner of the city is filled with life this time of year, rain or shine. This was clearly evident August 2nd when Third Eye Blind took to the stage in an absolute downpour, but fans kept singing and dancing along. Frontman Stephan Jenkins lit up the stage with members brad Hargreaves (drums), Kryz Reid (guitar), Alex Le Cavalier (bass) and Colin Creev (keyboards/guitar). But before Third Eye Blind, there was St. Lucia to get the crowd warmed up.

St. Lucia is a passion project fronted by Jean-Phillip Grobler bringing a new sound to indie electronic pop. With members Patti Beranek (keyboard/vocals), Ross Clark (bass guitar), Nick Paul (keyboard/synth), and Dustin Kaufman (drums) – they have been performing together for years and put on an incredible opening act on Sunday. Though it was early in the night they got the attention of many fans and were filled with infectious energy

Then came Third Eye Blind, but not before the crowd got drenched. A few minutes before the set started, the skies opened up. Though the crowd (and my camera) were completely soaked the mood of the fans was not dampened. Third Eye blind played through their discography despite the weather and played a great show. The classic alt rock/post grunge sound really shined. It was a set full of nostalgia and a crowd of fans singing along to their favorite songs. Rain shows always have a little something special, this was no exception.
