State Champs, originally from Albany, NY are celebrating 10 years of their album Around the World and Back by heading out on tour with Cartel, Taylor Acorn and Like Roses. They kicked off heir US tour in Allentown, PA on November 5th at Archer Music Hall.
Like Roses started out the night. They are an up and coming band from Berkley, California. They have an emo pop-punk sound and are fresh off the release of their album After It Ends reelased October 23rd. They played some great songs off the album such as “Wrist” and “Buried”. So many people were singing along and knew every word.
Since everyone was warmed up and ready for a great night of performances, Taylor Acorn was met with an incredibly energetic crowd. The pop-punk singer from Wellsboro, PA was excited to be back close to home and showed her enthusiasm with an amazing set. She had the crowd entranced with her amazing vocals and high energy songs.
Cartel, originally from Georgia, formed in 2003 and have just released their first album in 13 years. They are definitely seeing a resurgence in their fan base, while pop-punk popularity is on the rise. They had a non-stop set that was a mix of the new and old, of course finishing off with Say Anything (Else).
Then, headliners State Champs came out with insane energy right from the beginning. The crowd matched it with non-stop crowdsurfing and singing along. They started out by playing out the album Around the World and Back in its entirely including bonus tracks and then continued on with a selection of songs from their discography. Security rightfully got several shout outs from the band for working extra hard keeping the crazy amount of crowd surfers coming their way safe. Overall, a wild set and a great way to kick off a tour.
