Daisy Grenade is an alt-pop duo made up of Keaton Whittaker and Dani Nigro from NYC who took their first headliner tour to Philadelphia at the Foundry on June 18th with support from Vienna Vienna. The So Much To Say Tour started in May this year just following the release of their latest EP by the same name and has been a huge success. Many of their dates, including Philadelphia, were sold out and they have received a lot of support from their devoted fans along the way.
The night started with a set from Vienna Vienna, a self described glimmer-rock artist who dazzled the crowd with a strong vocal and musical showing. Off stage known by the name “J”, he is up and coming in the scene and is starting to grow a cult following and its easy to see why. The crowd was instantly enchanted by his performance and were left wanting more.
Then came Daisy Grenade’s set. They are known for their electrifying performances that are high energy and dynamic with impressive vocals and a theatric flair. Whittaker and Nigro have solid support from their band – Pete Lazorcik on drums, Matias Sanes on guitar, and Adrian Koch on bass. Their chemistry is unmatched and you can tell by the ease of their performance that there is a lot of trust there, not to mention pure talent. Fans met the duo’s energy by making sure they kept dancing, moshing, and surfing the entire night. Nigro even remarked to Whittaker (with love) “These people are crazy” because they said they haven’t really been encountering much surfing on this tour so far. Philly never fails to bring the chaotic energy. The night kept going as they made their way through their discography from old to new and absolutely crushed every track. One of the highlights of the night each night is finding out who the “Emily” will be for their performance of the song by the same name. This time it was Caro Daye Attayek who was featured in the music video for “It Must Be Me” from their most recent EP. The special guests didn’t end there. For “Rent to Own” they were joined by Philly native Dan Campbell of the Wonder Years who helped write the song. They delivered an emotionally packed rendition of the song. The last guest was for “Liquor and Kerosene” with Vienna Vienna stepping in for John O’Callaghan from The Maine for the duet.
It was an emotional, high energy night to say the least and the crowd was begging for more – which Daisy Grenade delivered with an encore. They made many powerful statements through the evening about making sure to follow you dream and make art in a messed up world. They also touched on their philanthropy and making sure to donate and do work in your community, something they are already doing by donating $1 from each ticket sold on their tour to the Give A Damn Foundation. I can’t wait to see what they do next, because it is safe to say that they aren’t going anywhere and will be delivering amazing hits for many years to come.
