Alternative rock, emo, soft grunge band Basement formed in Suffolk, England in 2009. Members include Andrew Fisher (lead vocals), Ronan Crix (lead guitar), Alex Henery (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Duncan Stewart (bass), and James Fisher (drums). After a hiatus, they had a recent return, touring in the US for the first time in years in 2024. They have now announced their 5th studio album on May 8th 2026, releasing through their prior label Run For Cover. In the meantime on March 3rd they released two songs off the album – “WIRED” and “Broken by Design”. If these songs are any indication, the album is set to truly be a masterpiece.

Basement really has no misses in their discography. “WIRED” is full of angst and trying to hide your feelings but they become too much to bear. “Broken by Design” is softer, but still packs that emotion punch. About reminiscing on time when things didn’t go as planned, but growing from it.

Based on these two songs, I am thoroughly excited to hear what else Basement has in store for listeners and will no doubt be glued into my headphones on May 8th to hear the rest of the tracks on WIRED.
